Google's Gemini Now Auto-Summarizes Long Emails in Gmail
Hugging Face Unveils Two New Open-Source Robots
Meta AI Reaches 1 Billion Users Worldwide
Apple Is Building a New Gaming App with iOS 19

Google's AI assistant, Gemini, has introduced a new feature in Gmail that automatically summarizes lengthy emails and threads without user prompts. These AI-generated summaries, known as "summary cards," appear at the top of emails, highlighting key points and updating as new replies come in. This enhancement aims to streamline email management by reducing the need to read through extensive messages. Initially, this feature is available for English-language emails on mobile devices and is being rolled out to Google Workspace users over the next two weeks. Users can still manually request summaries or disable the feature entirely by turning off "Smart features" in Gmail settings. It's important to note that the accuracy of AI-generated summaries may vary, and users should verify critical information independently.

Hugging Face unveils two new humanoid robots: HopeJR and Reachy Mini. Both are open-source, meaning anyone can learn how they are made, customize them, and use them for projects. HopeJR is a life-sized robot that can walk, move its arms, and pick things up. It’s designed to be powerful but still affordable, priced under $3,000. The goal is to help more people build and experiment with advanced robots without needing a big budget. Reachy Mini is a smaller, desktop version. It can move its head, talk, and listen. It’s meant for students, hobbyists, and developers who want to try building AI into robots. It’s expected to cost between $250 and $300. This robot push comes after Hugging Face bought a robotics company called Pollen Robotics. They are also building a platform called LeRobot, where anyone can access tools and models for creating robotic systems. If you are interested, you can already join the waitlist. The first robots are expected to ship later this year. Hugging Face wants to make robotics as open and accessible as software, and this might be their biggest step yet.

Meta AI has achieved a significant milestone, now serving over one billion monthly users across its platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. This growth has doubled since September 2024, highlighting the increasing integration of AI into daily digital interactions. Mark Zuckerberg announced this achievement during Meta's annual shareholder meeting, emphasizing the company's focus on enhancing Meta AI's capabilities. Plans are underway to improve personalization, enable voice conversations, and expand entertainment features, aiming to make Meta AI a leading personal assistant. While monetization is not immediate, Zuckerberg indicated future possibilities such as introducing paid recommendations or subscription services, aligning Meta AI with other AI chat applications like OpenAI's ChatGPT. The recent launch of a standalone Meta AI app further signifies Meta's commitment to advancing its AI services.

Apple is gearing up to launch a new gaming app alongside iOS 19, aiming to enhance the gaming experience across its devices. This app is expected to replace the existing Game Center, serving as a central hub for games on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. Features will likely include achievements, leaderboards, game recommendations, and social functionalities, such as chat and multiplayer options through iMessage and FaceTime. In a strategic move to bolster its gaming portfolio, Apple has acquired RAC7, the developer behind the popular Apple Arcade game "Sneaky Sasquatch." This acquisition marks Apple's first foray into owning a game studio, signaling a deeper commitment to the gaming industry. Apple's new initiatives aim to position its devices as more attractive platforms for gamers, offering a more integrated and engaging gaming experience.
