Google discontinues Google Podcasts
Apple new AI, ReALM supersedes GPT-4 performance
OpenAI now allows you use ChatGPT without an account
Amazon to invest $2.75 billion in Anthropic
Google Podcasts is bidding farewell and exiting the Google Play Store, prompting users to migrate their podcasts elsewhere. Launched in 2018, it initially focused on Google Assistant integration and personalized recommendations, amassing over 500 million downloads. However, due to shifting trends, Google integrated Podcasts into YouTube Music, noting YouTube's increased podcast usage. Users can easily transfer subscriptions to YouTube Music or export as an OPML file for other podcast apps. This move reflects Google's adaptation to evolving user preferences and consolidating services for a seamless experience.
#Apple’s AI research has found created “ReALM” - a model that is smaller and faster than GPT-4 to parse contextual data. 👀👀
Are you excited for #Apple’s AI features coming soon?👀

Apple is gearing up for WWDC 2024 in June with a focus on enhancing Siri with the aim to address user complaints about the assistant. Recent research by Apple's AI team introduces ReALM, a conversational AI system aimed at improving reference resolution for Siri. This novel approach breaks from traditional methods by treating reference resolution as a language modeling problem. ReALM has been proven to supersede OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, showing promising results with smaller models comparable to GPT-4's performance. The paper outlines ReALM models ranging from ReALM-80M to ReALM-3B, indicating varying parameter sizes. While Apple has not confirmed how this research will integrate into iOS 18 or their devices, it signals ongoing efforts to enhance Siri's contextual understanding and overall performance.

OpenAI made an important announcement this week. Users can now access ChatGPT without needing to create an account. While this update is a good move, there are key points to keep in mind. ChatGPT remains free but previously required an OpenAI account for access. With the recent change, users can interact with ChatGPT without signing in. However, OpenAI may utilize user inputs to enhance its language model. Users can opt out of this data usage by adjusting settings within the chatbot. While basic functionalities like querying information are accessible without an account, features such as saving chat history and accessing voice responses require signing in. Additionally, premium services and other OpenAI products requires an OpenAI account. OpenAI also mentioned implementing enhanced content safeguards for a safer user experience. This update is gradually rolling out globally, so some users may still encounter account requirements until the changes take effect everywhere.
Amazon just made a BIG investment of $2.75 billion in AI startup, Anthropic - parent company of the supercharged LLM called Claude 3 Opus. This move is like adding more fuel to Anthropic's fire, making it a strong contender against frontrunners like OpenAI. With this latest funding, Amazon's total commitment to Anthropic skyrockets to $4 billion! Swami Sivasubramanian, Amazon's VP of data and AI, seems super pumped about this partnership, saying generative AI is going to change the game, and teaming up with Anthropic will take customer experiences to new heights. This investment comes at a time when the AI landscape is buzzing with competition, including Microsoft's strategic moves and some raised eyebrows from regulators like the US Federal Trade Commission, who are keeping a close watch on AI developments. It's like a high-stakes chess game among tech giants, with each move aiming for dominance and innovation in the AI industry.
