OpenAI launched ChatGPT Go in India - $5 Subscription Plan
OpenAI has just rolled out a new, lower‑cost version of ChatGPT in India. Called ChatGPT Go, it costs just ₹399 a month, under $5, which is a big drop from the ₹1,999 (roughly $23) month‑to‑month cost of the regular Plus plan in India. This makes it by far the cheapest ChatGPT subscription users in India can get.
With ChatGPT Go, you get a serious boost in access, OpenAI says users get 10 times more messages, image generations, and file uploads than what’s available on the free version. On top of that, it offers double the memory, so the AI can remember more of the conversation and stay more personal. This launch comes just after OpenAI made pricing available in local currencies and added support for India’s UPI payment system, making it easier for Indian users to pay.
OpenAI wants to make sure people in India can use ChatGPT without paying the full Plus price. The company says that’s exactly what users were asking for. And they are starting with India for now, planning to learn from feedback before offering Go in other countries.
It’s worth noting, though, that ChatGPT Go does not include everything. You won’t get access to older, popular models like GPT‑4o, nor to premium tools like video generation with Sora or integrations like Gmail or Calendar connectors, that stuff is still locked behind the Plus or higher tiers.
