It’s time to savor the excitement of what the AI world has served up this week!

Microsoft just released a new update for Outlook that focuses on personalizing your email experience. If you have a Copilot Pro subscription or a business account, you can now create custom themes with AI. Think of it like choosing a background that fits your style or even changes based on where you are, the time of day, or the weather. You can set it up to update as often as you want—hourly, daily, you name it—and even pick different styles, like realistic, painting, or cartoon. Just go to Appearance Settings in Outlook to try it out! Microsoft is really leaning into personalization here, giving Outlook users a creative edge that Gmail doesn’t quite offer yet. it is not just Outlook—Microsoft is testing new AI tools in Notepad and Paint, letting users rewrite sentences or even remove objects from images. These features are rolling out now in a preview for Windows Insiders.
OpenAI recently acquired up the domain Chat.com, and now if you visit it, you will be directed straight to ChatGPT. This is a big deal because Chat.com has been around since 1996 and is one of the more valuable domain names out there. Last year, Dharmesh Shah, HubSpot’s co-founder, bought Chat.com for a whopping $15.5 million, making it one of the highest publicly recorded domain sales. While OpenAI hasn’t revealed the purchase price, Shah hinted he might have been paid in OpenAI shares. Interestingly, this doesn’t seem to be a full rebranding move for ChatGPT, as OpenAI hasn’t actually moved their chatbot over to Chat.com—it’s more of a redirect for now. OpenAI’s strategy here seems to be about gaining visibility and making it easier for people to find ChatGPT, though they’ve kept the details quiet on the overall plan.

Amazon Prime Video just introduced a helpful new feature called “X-Ray Recaps,” designed to keep you in the loop on TV shows without any spoilers. So now instead of risking plot reveals while searching online, you can now get quick, AI-generated summaries for entire seasons, single episodes, or specific scenes—all spoiler-free! Amazon has built-in safeguards to keep any major plot twists under wraps. This new addition expands Prime Video’s existing X-Ray feature, which you might know for showing cast info and fun facts when you pause. To use X-Ray Recaps, simply visit the show’s detail page and choose to recap the episode, season, or even the previous season with a single click. Currently in beta for Fire TV users in the U.S., X-Ray Recaps works with Amazon MGM originals like The Boys and The Wheel of Time, with more device support coming by year’s end. This feature uses Amazon’s advanced AI tech to tailor recaps to exactly where you are in the show, so you are always right on track without any spoilers.

Pixelmator, a popular image-editing platform, announced that it is being acquired by Apple. While all the details isn’t yet ascertained, Pixelmator has assured users that their key apps—Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator—will continue as they are, at least for now. If Apple’s past acquisitions are any clue, we may see some of Pixelmator’s advanced editing features integrated into Apple’s Photos app in the future. Pixelmator has been a favorite among creatives since it launched in 2007 in Vilnius, Lithuania, so this deal gives the small but innovative team a larger stage. This acquisition aligns with Apple’s focus on expanding AI-powered imaging tools, like the recent Clean Up feature in iOS, which removes unwanted elements from photos, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser. As Pixelmator’s team hinted, this partnership with Apple will allow them to reach and support more creatives globally.
