Google Drops a New App That Lets You Run AI on Your Phone

Google just released a new app called AI Edge Gallery, and it is a big deal.

This app lets you download and run AI models directly on your Android phone, meaning you don’t need to be online or rely on Google’s servers to get things done. You can use it to chat with AI, ask questions about images, or even edit code, all on your device.

Some of its key features include:

1. Answer questions, rewrite text, and more using built-in prompts

2. Pick from a list of models, including some from Hugging Face and Google’s own “Gemma”

3. All the processing happens on your phone, no data going to the cloud

It is open source too, which means developers can play around with it, give feedback, or build their own tools on top of it.

This could be a big step toward more private, faster, and flexible AI tools especially for people who want control without needing Wi-Fi all the time.
