Hello community member,

Happy New Month to you! As unbelievable as it may seem, we are already approaching the end of the first quarter of the year. Time is flying by, and so is the pace of development in the AI industry. This week, ChatGPT introduced an upgrade, and another tech giant, Microsoft, is preparing to retire Skype—one of its most well-known products. But don’t worry, we will tell you why in just a bit - So grab a seat, sit back, and indulge. It's time to savor the excitement of what the AI world has served up this week!

Here's your curated dose of the most significant events in the AI ecosystem this week:

  1. OpenAI plans to integrate SORA into ChatGPT

  2. Microsoft to discontinue Skype in May, 2025

  3. OpenAI launches GPT 4.5

  4. Meta is Building Its Own AI Chatbot App

ChatGPT will soon enough be able to generate short videos from your prompts. OpenAI is working to integrate Sora, its new AI-powered video generator into ChatGPtT. Right now, Sora is only available to a select few, but OpenAI is planning to integrate it into ChatGPT for more users. To use Sora, you simply type in a prompt, and Sora creates a short video, up to 20 seconds long. It can handle different resolutions and aspect ratios, making it handy for all kinds of content. Of course, there are concerns. AI-generated videos can be misused, from deepfakes to misinformation. OpenAI says they are working on safety measures, but this tech raises big questions about responsible AI use. For now, access is limited to certain regions, but OpenAI is expanding availability. If all goes well, we might soon see AI-generated videos as a regular part of ChatGPT.

Skype has been around for over 20 years, but Microsoft has decided it is time to move on. Come May 5, 2025, Skype will officially shut down. If you have used it for calls, meetings, or catching up with friends, this might feel like the end of an era. The reason for this service shut down is because Microsoft is putting all its focus on Teams, which offers chat, video calls, and collaboration tools in one place. If you are still using Skype, Microsoft suggests switching to Teams, and the good news is you can log in with your Skype details. Skype was a game-changer when it launched, but with so many other options now, its time in the spotlight has passed. Whether you are ready to switch or feeling a bit nostalgic, one thing is for sure, this is a big shift in how we connect online.

OpenAI has just launch GPT-4.5, the latest upgrade to its AI model, and it came with some interesting upgrades. If ChatGPT has ever given you a  completely off-track answer, you will be happy to hear that GPT-4.5 is designed to reduce those “hallucinations.” Basically, it’s smarter, more accurate, and understands context better. GPT-4.5 has a bigger knowledge base, making it better at handling complex questions. It also responds more naturally, making conversations with AI feel even smoother. it is currently only available to Pro users, and that subscription costs $200 a month. OpenAI says they will expand access over time, but for now, it’s a premium feature. This update is another step in AI’s rapid evolution.

Looks like Meta wants its own AI chatbot app! Right now, Meta AI is built into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, but the company is working on a separate app just for it. If all goes as planned, it should launch later this year. Meta is taking AI chatbots more seriously, competing directly with the likes of ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. The app will likely let users ask questions, generate images, and even edit photos, just like other AI tools out there. Meta has been pouring billions into AI development, and they have a big AI event coming up on April 29th, where we will probably hear more about this project. If Meta plays its cards right, this chatbot could become a major player in the AI space.
