 📝Editor’s Note

Welcome to May and another awesome weekend to catch up on AI and Tech updates. You will agree with me that the year started just a short while ago and in a twinkle, it’s May. Not just May, it’s the second month in Q2 and it’s easy to forget every innovation and high moments that happened this year. Don’t worry too much about that, in the newly published State of AI and Tech report, you’d be able to catch on, recall and predict key developments in the industry. You can access the report in a few scrolls. Now, let’s get into what happened this past week in AI

Here's your curated dose of the most significant events in the AI ecosystem this week

  1. Apple and Anthropic are Building a New AI That Helps You Code

  2.  Google’s Gemini Chatbot Is Coming to Kids

  3. Apple Will Now Let Apps Link to Their Own Websites

  4. Claude AI Can Now Work with Your Favorite Apps

Apple is reportedly working with Anthropic to build a smart AI tool that can help developers write and improve code faster. Think of it as having an AI coding buddy inside your laptop—something that understands what you’re building and offers suggestions in real time. The tool is being developed using Claude, the AI model from Anthropic, and will be integrated into Apple’s Xcode (the software developers use to build iOS apps). While Apple hasn’t confirmed the details, insiders say this new platform could speed up app creation, catch bugs early, and even suggest better ways to write code. Right now, it’s for internal Apple teams only, but it could eventually become part of the tools developers around the world use. This partnership also signals something bigger: Apple is quietly stepping deeper into AI, even though it hasn’t made as much noise as Google, Meta, or OpenAI. And with WWDC around the corner (Apple’s annual developer event), people are watching closely to see how Apple plans to bring AI to its devices. Whether you’re a developer or just someone who uses apps every day, this move could shape how apps get built in the future.

Google just announced something big: soon, children under 13 will be able to chat with Gemini, its AI chatbot. But don’t worry, there are guardrails in place to keep things safe. Only kids with a supervised Google account (set up by parents through Family Link) will be allowed to use Gemini. The chatbot will offer helpful answers, tell stories, and help with schoolwork, but in a way that’s designed specifically for young users. Google says it won’t use kids’ chats to train the AI, which helps with privacy concerns. And there will be content filters, so kids don’t get inappropriate answers. Parents will also have the option to review how their children are using the tool. This move could open new doors for how AI is used in learning and play. But it also raises important questions about screen time, digital safety, and how early is too early for kids to talk to AI. Still, it’s a clear sign that Google believes AI is part of the next generation’s everyday life—and wants to be the first to make it accessible to everyone, starting from a young age.

CONNECT WITH US ON LINKEDIN

After years of pressure, Apple has updated its App Store rules in the U.S. Apps can now include links that take users to the app’s own website to make payments. Before this change, developers were stuck using Apple’s in-app system, which came with a hefty fee up to 30%. Now, if you use an app like Spotify or Netflix, they can send you to their own website to subscribe or pay—no middleman. That’s a big win for developers and consumers, who might start seeing lower prices or more flexible payment options. This all started with the Epic Games lawsuit against Apple. A judge ruled that Apple had to give developers more freedom, and this rule change is part of Apple’s way of following that order. Still, Apple says it plans to appeal. The company has also put strict rules in place for how these links must work, including warnings and approval steps. But it’s a major shift from the “Apple gets a cut of everything” model. This update could change how the App Store works, and possibly even how much you pay for your favorite apps and services.

Anthropic just made a big update to its Claude AI assistant, you can now connect it with popular work tools like Zapier, Intercom, Square, and PayPal. That means Claude can now help with real tasks across your favorite apps, not just chat or write things for you. With this update, Claude becomes more like a digital coworker. It can fetch data, summarize pages from Confluence, trigger workflows, or help you manage payments. For businesses, that means real productivity, not just AI for fun, but AI that does the work. There’s also a new feature called “Advanced Research,” where Claude can dig deep into documents and reports, pulling out key insights. It’s like having a smart researcher on call. This move puts Claude in the same league as tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. But what makes it stand out is its focus on clear, safe, and reliable results. If you use a lot of apps in your daily work, Claude might soon become your favorite assistant, one that understands your tools and works behind the scenes to save you time.
