Apple Plans Major Siri Overhaul with New AI Search Powered by Google Gemini

Apple is working on a major upgrade to Siri, turning it into a smarter AI-powered assistant with a new feature called “World Knowledge Answers.” This new tool will give Siri the ability to provide richer, more accurate answers by pulling information from the web, similar to what OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Perplexity AI are doing.

The update will let Siri deliver better results using a mix of text, images, videos, and local information all in one place, making it more useful and reliable. Apple is partnering with Google to power this feature using a custom version of Gemini, but the data will be processed on Apple’s own Private Cloud Compute servers to keep user privacy intact.

Apple plans to integrate this feature across the entire ecosystem, so it won’t just live in Siri. You’ll also see it in Safari and Spotlight, making it easier to find answers no matter where you search on your iPhone, Mac, or iPad. The full rollout is expected to come with iOS 26.4 around spring 2026, alongside the launch of the iPhone 17. This is a big move for Apple, which has been playing catch-up in the AI race. While competitors have rolled out advanced assistants and AI-powered search tools, Siri has felt outdated for years. By teaming up with Google and leaning on Gemini’s capabilities, Apple is betting big on a smarter, faster, and more connected experience for users.

Investors are also watching closely. With Apple’s stock under pressure this year, this upgrade signals a stronger push into AI, setting the stage for deeper integrations across its products and services.

If done right, Siri could move from being just a voice assistant to becoming a powerful, AI-driven search engine, one that understands context, pulls richer results, and works seamlessly across all Apple devices.
