This and many more we bring to your doorstep today - so, grab a seat, sit back, and indulge. It's time to savor the excitement of what the AI world has served up this week!

Apple’s Phil Schiller is moving to a new role at OpenAI because Apple and Microsoft are giving up their observer seats on OpenAI’s board. This change comes as OpenAI integrates ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. They are not exchanging money for this integration right now. Instead of formal board roles, OpenAI will start regular meetings with partners, led by CFO Sarah Friar, to work together on AI innovations. This shift follows regulators looking closely at Big Tech’s investments in AI, like Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI. With this deal, Siri will soon be able to pass complex tasks to ChatGPT, making your experience with Apple devices even smarter, but only with your permission, of course.

Samsung pulled the curtain back on a bunch of new gadgets at their big event in Paris. They showed off the Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, and introduced the Galaxy Ring. But the real star was their Galaxy AI platform, which they launched earlier this year with the Galaxy S24. This AI toolkit covers everything from health and productivity apps to cool photo tricks, powered by Google’s AI tech. Samsung is banking on AI to boost their device sales, especially with Apple about to drop their own AI software soon. They showcased some neat features like Energy Score for fitness tracking and conversation mode for translating languages in real-time using digital whiteboards on their foldable screens. By integrating AI into their latest gadgets and even some older models, Samsung hopes to tempt users into upgrading. It’s a race between them and Apple now to see who can win over more users with their AI smarts.

Google is making strides with its robots using Gemini AI to help them navigate and complete tasks better. The DeepMind team recently shared that Gemini 1.5 Pro allows users to give commands in natural language, which makes interacting with the RT-2 robots much easier. They showed this by filming a tour of a space, like a home or office, so the robot could learn about its environment. For example, if you ask the robot where to charge your phone, it can lead you to the nearest outlet. Impressively, it has a 90% success rate in following over 50 commands across a large area. The robots can even plan ahead, like checking the fridge for your favorite drink. While there are still some delays in processing commands, these developments are paving the way for more helpful robots in our everyday lives.

Amazon has just rolled out its AI shopping assistant, Rufus, for all U.S. users in the Amazon app. You can find Rufus in the bottom right corner, ready to help you search for products, compare items, and suggest what to buy. It was in beta for a while but is now available to everyone after answering millions of questions. Rufus knows a lot about Amazon’s product catalog and customer reviews, so it can help you with questions like what to consider when buying headphones or what’s trending in tech. You can even chat with Rufus about specific tasks, like setting up an indoor garden. While Rufus is a great shopping assistant, it might not always get everything right and is limited to Amazon’s offerings. But don’t worry, Amazon is constantly working on making Rufus even better.
