Tip of the Day

An engineering fellowship to land your next job

Many engineers feel stalled because the role itself has not evolved. The work looks the same, but the market has moved.

Senior engineering in 2026 demands ownership, faster judgment, and comfort with ambiguity. If your role is not pushing you there, it may be holding you back.

Last cohort, 15 hiring partners sent 31 representatives to evaluate challengers through 246 live interviews. Gauntlet offers a reset. Apply now.

Anthropic Mythos Is Finally Here for Everyone

Mythos has been the AI model everyone was talking about, but almost nobody could access. Since its limited preview in April, Anthropic kept it locked to a small group of vetted partners working on critical infrastructure across 15 countries. That changes today. Claude Fable 5, the first publicly available version of a Mythos-class model, is now live.

Early testers reported it was the first to score 90% on complex analytical benchmarks, better at building full apps in a single attempt, and stronger on tool calling and UI design than anything else currently available. Rakuten noted that at its highest effort, the model reflects on and validates its own work, which is what makes highly autonomous operations possible, in their words.

In high-risk areas like cybersecurity, biology, chemistry, and model distillation, Fable 5 blocks its own responses and falls back to Claude Opus 4.8 instead. Anthropic ran over 1,000 hours of external bug bounty testing before launch and found no universal jailbreaks. All traffic will now carry a mandatory 30-day retention policy, a notable shift for enterprises that previously had zero-retention agreements, and a potential industry precedent for how access to powerful models gets managed going forward.

The pricing reflects the tier. Fable 5 costs $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, double the price of Opus 4.8. For subscribers on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, it is included at no extra cost through June 22. After that date, it moves to usage credits, with Anthropic promising to restore it as a standard subscription feature as soon as possible.

The launch is happening in the same week Anthropic filed for its IPO and just days after the company publicly urged global AI labs to establish a coordinated pause on frontier AI development. Releasing a Mythos-class model to the public in that context is a deliberate statement: Anthropic believes Fable 5 can be deployed responsibly, and it has built the safety infrastructure to back that up.
