Anthropic launches Claude Haiku 4.5
Anthropic just rolled out Claude Haiku 4.5, the newest version of its small, fast model aimed at everyday workloads. The pitch is simple. You get Sonnet-level capability for a fraction of the cost and with lower latency.
Anthropic says Haiku 4.5 delivers similar coding performance to Sonnet 4 at about one third the price and more than twice the speed, which puts it in play for high volume tasks like support replies, content generation at scale, agent loops, and app features where every millisecond and dollar count. Pricing lands at roughly $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, and it is available now through the Claude API and major clouds. Google also lists the model as generally available on Vertex AI with a 2025-10-15 release date.
The bigger picture here is that top tier capability is getting cheaper and faster, which should open the door for companies that have been waiting for costs to drop before rolling AI into real products. If you are already on Claude, Haiku 4.5 looks like the default pick for speed sensitive jobs, while you keep Sonnet or Opus for the truly hard problems.
