Anthropic Brings Voice Mode to Claude Code
Anthropic has started rolling out Voice Mode for Claude Code, its AI coding assistant aimed at developers. The feature lets users speak their coding commands out loud instead of typing them, so rather than writing out an instruction like "refactor the authentication middleware," you can simply say it, and Claude Code gets to work.
The rollout is gradual. As of Tuesday, Voice Mode is live for about 5% of users, with a broader release planned over the coming weeks. Users who have access will see a note on their welcome screen, and can turn it on by typing /voice in the interface. What the feature's full limitations are, including whether there are caps on voice interactions, has not been confirmed by Anthropic yet.
For context, Anthropic already brought Voice Mode to its main Claude chatbot back in May 2025 for general use. Bringing it to Claude Code now signals a push toward making the developer experience more fluid and hands-free, the kind of workflow where a developer can think out loud and have the tool respond in real time.
The timing of this launch sits against a strong backdrop for Claude Code overall. The tool's annualised revenue recently crossed $2.5 billion, more than doubling since the start of 2026, and weekly active users have doubled since January. That growth is happening in one of the most competitive corners of AI right now, with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Google, and OpenAI all targeting the same developer audience.
